In Care of the Family

Alden C. E. Sabatka, 86, of Valparaiso, NE, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Saunders Care Center in Wahoo, NE.  He was born August 1, 1930 in rural Ceresco, NE to Charles and Antonette (Svoboda) Sabatka.  Alden graduated from Weston High School in 1947.  On January 3, 1950, Alden was united in marriage to Marcie Krenk.

Alden was a house painter, home builder, farmer, and a past owner of the Valparaiso lumber yard.  He enjoyed wood working and carving, fishing, road trips, watching Husker football, and visits to the casinos.  Alden was a member of Sts. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, FCSLA and the Saunders County Livestock Association.

He is survived by wife of 67 years Marcie Sabatka; children: Wayne (JoAnn) Sabatka, Phil Sabatka, Laurie (Terry) Anderson, Mark (Kim) Sabatka; Linda Sabatka; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister Bernice (Gordy) Hegel.

He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Antonette Sabatka; daughter-in-law Joan Sabatka.
