Andrew J. Murren, 94 of Colon, NE, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 19, 2018. He was born January 5, 1924 in Cornlea, NE to Thomas and Bridget (Noonan) Murren. Andrew graduated from Wahoo High School in 1941 and he attended Luther College. On February 11, 1947, Andrew was united in marriage to Norma A. Pacl at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague, NE. He was a lifelong farmer who loved life, loved the land, and especially loved his wife and family.
Andrew was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colon, NE. He was also a member of American Legion #265, VFW #4502, Knights of Columbus #1833, 40&8, FCSLA, Colon Fire Department and he was a past Mayor of Colon. He was a great fast pitch softball pitcher. Andrew enjoyed polka music, collecting postcards, reading the newspaper, wildlife, farming, sports, tea pots and garage sales.
He is survived by his children, Tom (Julie) Murren, John (Jodi) Murren, Mike (Vicki) Murren, Mary Murren, Patty (Kevin) Matson; grandchildren, Andrew (Kelan) Murren, Brooke (Darren) Elliott, Megan Murren, Amanda (Jerid) Cooper, Chris Murren, Matthew (Amanda) Murren, Taylor (Taylor) Murren, Mattie (Jake) Subbert, Sadie Murren, Matthew Brandes, Tara (Michael) Bowman, John (Allie) Matson, and Scott (Genevieve Beals) Matson; great-grandchildren, Grant Cooper, Brady Cooper, Emma Bowman, Hannah Bowman, Luke Bowman, Carter Matson, Claire Matson, Mason Subbert and Reagan Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Norma Murren; parents, Thomas and Bridget Murren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Viola Nanfito.
Pallbearers are Andrew Murren, Chris Murren, Matthew Murren, Taylor Murren, Matthew Brandes, John Matson and Scott Matson.
Honorary Pallbearers are Fr. Patrick O’Byrne, Jim McDermott, Joe Nanfito, Dwaine Ohnoutka, Richard Chvatal, Richard Meduna, Tom Friedman, Mitch Ohnoutka, Roger Noonan, Keith Rohwer, Rick Abel, John Sanderson and the Parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Please remember Andrew’s special friends that have passed before him: Kenny Wallin, Joe Bartek, John Noonan, Joe Nanfito, Ed Koutny, Louis Sanderson, Bill McDermott, Vennie Meduna, Frank Frycek, Frank Fraley, Sr. Delores and many other friends and family.

Marvin and I want to express our deepest condolences on the passing of your father, Andy. We both are so proud to be friends with your father as well as your mother. He was such an awesome person. He will be sorely missed by so many. I just recently became aware that Andy was at South Haven and I was about to get Marvin to go visit.
I am so sorry to hear about Andy! I will miss seeing him at the Red Zone in Colon! I always enjoyed cutting his hair!! He will be truly missed! My thoughts and prayers to all his family!
We really enjoyed both Andy and Norma. We are so glad that we got to be their neighbors for so many years.
