Darlene Mae Otto, 87, of Memphis NE, was reunited in heaven with her husband, Harold, on Wednesday, April 9th 2014, when she passed away peacefully at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo NE. Darlene was born December 15th, 1926 in Swedeburg, NE to Lud and Vic Anderson. She attended country school as well as Wahoo High School, where she graduated in 1945. The following year she was married to the love of her life, Harold William- Eric Otto on September 15th 1946. From their love came four children Bob, Daryl, Ken and Vicki along with over 67 years of memories together.

Darlene was a member of the Ashland American Lutheran Church and VFW Auxiliary Post #9776. She was a caretaker at heart, working for Ashland Public Schools and doing home healthcare. Though what brought her the most joy was being a mother and becoming a grandmother, which was her true calling in life. She enjoyed dancing, crafts and a good romance novel but her favorite pastimes were the Three G’s: Gardening, Garage sales and Grandchildren. Darlene was a spirited woman with a contagious laugh and a heart of gold. Anyone who was lucky enough to know her was sure to fall in love.

Darlene is survived by children: Ken Otto of Memphis NE, and Vicki Wittstruck (Shawn Campbell) of Ashland NE; Grandchildren, LaWanna (Stacey) Subbert, Lisa (Mike) Jaskulski, Stacy Otto, Gloria Otto, Kylie (Chris) Williams and Chance Otto; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Subbert, Dustin, Dylan and Dakota Jaskulski, Brylie and Addysen Williams; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
