David R. Erickson, 65, of Alvo, NE, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at his home in rural Alvo.  David was born September 7, 1950 in Lincoln, NE to Everett and Phyllis (Gray) Erickson.  David was baptized April 6, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Ashland and Confirmed May 16, 1971 at Peace Lutheran Church in Waverly.  He graduated from Murdock High School and UNL with a Bachelor of Science in education.  On August 1, 1970, David married Lois Brauer in Lincoln, NE.

David served in the Air Force and the Nebraska Air National Guard from 1972-1978.  He taught school at Waverly District 145 for three years and then devoted the rest of his life to farming.  He served 38 years on the board of directors of Cass County Rural Water Dist. #2, with a majority of them as treasurer.  He also served his Lord in many ways at Peace Lutheran Church as an elder, on the organ committee, and teacher.

He is survived by wife of 46 years Lois Erickson; daughter Becky (Eric) Schroeder of Eagle; son Bryce (Lindsay) Erickson Waverly; grandchildren: Conrad and Jared Schroeder, Nora, Wesley, and Calvin Erickson; brother Wayne (Joyce) Erickson of Wisner; sister Lynn (Cliff) Thelen of Lincoln; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ronald and Marie Brauer of Tampa, FL and Dwight and Mary Bletscher of Tustin, CA; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents; infant brother John Erickson; father-in-law and mother-in-law Lorenz and Norma Brauer.
