In Care of the Family
Deborah Jean Cox, 53 of Wahoo, NE, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Wahoo. She was born November 26, 1960 in Wahoo to Lloyd and Betty (Gaeth) Zauss. Deb graduated from Wahoo High School in 1979 and later graduated with a business degree from Southeast Community College. On July 25, 1981, she was united in marriage to Gaylen Cox at the First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. Through the years she enjoyed serving people as a CNA and caregiver. In her early years she worked at the Saunders Care Center and later at Merrick Manor in Fremont, Home Instead, and currently at the Saunders House.
She had a great love for animals and apples. She collected all kinds of apples and used them to decorate. Deb’s passion was her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and always enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Gaylen Cox; children, Paul (Julie) Cox of Omaha and Emma Cox of Omaha; grandchildren, Stephon Stroebel and Connor Cox; sister, Darlene (Ron) Minor of Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Zauss; and mother, Betty Zauss Lange.
We are sorry. Very sorry! Debbie babysat for us when we moved to Wahoo in 1978. She was quiet and just fit in with our family! In the passing years we haven’t seen her much. When we did, she was just the same friendly person, always interested in our children. Our thoughts are with you Gaylen, Paul, Emma and Darlene!
Loved working with you!!! You will be missed!!!! When someone truely cares about the people they are around – and that was you – it showed!!!!
I worked with Deb for several years at Merrick Manor. She was always considerate and kind to the people she cared for, and talked so proudly of her family. I know you will miss her terribly and my thoughts and prayers go out to you.
I was surprised and saddened to hear of Deb’s death. May the comfort of resurrection hope in our Lord Jesus Christ bring peace to your family in this time of loss. I had the privilege to meet Deb for her mother’s memorial service and was able to share this same hope in Jesus that day as the officiating pastor. How blessed we are to have this hope in Jesus when grieving the loss of our loved ones. May the Lord bless and keep you all in His grace and loving care!
