Donald L. Novak, 61 of Brainard, NE, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home in Brainard, NE.  He was born April 19, 1956 in David City, NE to Anton Jr. and Rosa (Coufal) Novak.  Donald graduated from East Butler High School in 1974.  On July 13, 1974, he was united in marriage to Joette Steager at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard, NE.

Donald farmed in his earlier years and then worked for Walker’s in Seward, NE as a welder.  He also worked for Urbanek Body Shop in Dwight, NE, the COOP in Brainard and Timpte in David City.  Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and camping.  He loved building things, working on cars, listening to music and watching western movies.

He is survived by wife of 43 years, Joette Novak; children, Lisa Novak-Stanek, Shannon (Lucas) Devlin, Jeremy “Jay” (fiancé Tami Kramer) Novak, Holly Novak and Carissa Novak; grandchildren, Zachary, Quentin, Brooklyn, Sydnee, Kennedy, Kyah, Makenna, Alaina, Katelyn, Draelan, Damian and Aali; brother, Joe (Joan) Novak; sisters, Helen Samek and Gladyce Bouc; parents-in-law, Richard and Cece Steager; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Samantha Jo Novak; father, Anton Novak Jr.; mother, Rosa Wilson; step-father, Marvin Wilson; brother, Dennis Novak.
