Donald S. Stava, 82 of Weston, NE, entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2018 at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, NE.  He was born November 28, 1935 in Omaha, NE to Stanley and Helen (Roh) Stava.  Don graduated from Brainard High School in 1953.  Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp, stationed in Camp Pendleton, CA and was honorably discharged from his duties 1958 receiving a Good Conduct Medal.  He was united in marriage to Marcella “Marcie” Pavel August 24, 1963 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Utica, NE.  Don and Marcie were blessed to enjoy nearly 55 years of marriage.

Don was a lifelong farmer, loving husband, father, grandfather and soon to be great-grandfather.   Don and Marcie made their home on a farm near Weston.  In addition to raising crops, Don enjoyed his cow/calf operation.  He loved tending to his animals and had a great love for anything outdoors.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, Czech music and food, and playing cards.  Don was a skilled mechanic and carpenter.

Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1833, and the American Legion Weston Post #308, where he previously served as Commander. He was an active member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi.  He served his parish and community in various leadership roles.  Don considered himself semi-retired from farming, although he never really retired, remaining very active in the farming operation with Marcie and son Dave.

He is survived by his wife, Marcie Stava; children, Susie and Carl Sousek of Prague, Nancy Stava of Wahoo, Connie and Kevin Thulin of Weston, Patrick “Rick” and Kelly Stava of Wahoo, and Dave and Tara Stava of Weston.  Grandchildren include: Nick and Linsey Sousek of Wahoo, Jessica and Sam Creal of Prague, Kara Sousek of Lincoln, Hannah and Matt Thulin of Weston, Joseph, Ryan and Jacob Stava of Wahoo, and Jamison, Justin, and Jesse Stava of Weston; sister-in-laws, Leona DiPaolo of Lincoln and Angie Klein of Colorado Springs, CO; many nieces, nephews and friends.
