Duane Brechbill, 89 of Greenwood, NE, died March 8, 2015 at The Arbor in Lincoln. He was born June 12, 1925 in Burwell, NE to Elmer and Hazel (Alder) Brechbill. Duane graduated from Sargent High School in 1942 and two years later he joined the U.S. Army. He served his country during WWII until he was honorably discharged in 1946. On December 18, 1943, he was united in marriage to Ethelene Stewart and they lived together for 52 years until her passing. Duane was then married to Orma Martin on September 14, 1996 in Omaha. He was a farmer for most of his life in the Ord and Burwell areas and he also was a brand inspector and clerked farm sales.

He lived a full life and had many hobbies, but Duane was most proud of his family and his faith. He lived like a Christian all his life, but he did not have a personal relationship with Jesus until October 11, 1977.

Duane is survived by wife, Orma Brechbill; children, Darlene (Everett) Greathouse of Ashland, Lynn (Pat) Brechbill of Lincoln, and Leon Brechbill and fiancé Chris Drew of Canyon Country, CA; step-children, Greg (Kim) Martin, James (Catherine) Martin, Robert Martin, Daniel (Michele) Martin; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Ermagene Hiser of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by wife, Ethelene Brechbill; sons, Denny Brechbill and Donald Brechbill; brother, Kenneth Brechbill.

Pastor Everett Greathouse will be officiating the service.

Orma & cousins, Sorry, I couldn’t make it to the funeral. I seem to be further behind at work than normal. I thought JacE was going to make it to pass on my regrets but she wasn’t feeling well on Saturday. I was really sorry to hear of Duane’s passing. I have many great memories of him and the family get-togethers, even though I was the youngest. Again, sorry I couldn’t be there to see everyone that did make it. Condolences, Errol & Kathy Coslor
