In Care of the Family for Future Designation
Eddie Haba, 87 of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. She was born October 16, 1926 in Wahoo to Ernest and Marie (Müherr) Eberhardt. After she graduated from Wahoo High School, Eddie graduated from beauty school and later from nursing school. According to Joe, Eddie was a “million dollar baby in a five and ten cent store” referring to the Ben Franklin Store in Wahoo where she worked and they met. On April 14, 1945, Eddie and Joe were married.
Eddie was a full-time mom, grandma, and farm wife. In addition to caring for her family, she was a nursing home administrator and nurse who over her lifetime worked at Haven House, Saunders County Hospital and Care Center.
She was very active in the community and she always found ways to involve her family. Eddie was a very active democrat with the Saunders County Democrats. She was a 4-H leader, helped with the girl scouts, and she designed and made costumes for Bishop Neumann plays. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the St. Ludmilla’s Guild, Catholic Daughters, and the American Legion #82 Auxiliary. She was a past member of the St. Wenceslaus PTA, one of the original heavenly dusters, and the last surviving member of St. Theresa’s Study Club. She loved music, ballroom dancing, and playing cards with friends. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. Being a cancer survivor herself, Eddie was actively involved with Kendra’s Krusaders.
She is survived by daughters, Jody (Rex) Gittins, Kristy (Don) Fritzinger, and Mary Dailey all of Wahoo; 5 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Syverson of Wahoo; sister-in-law, Mary (Bill) Hancock of Wahoo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
