Eleanor M. Masek, 97 of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Saunders Care Center in Wahoo. She was born February 7, 1918 in Deweese, NE to William and Lula (Petr) Sekora. Eleanor was a graduate of Deweese High School. On July 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Ernest Masek in Deweese. After they were married Eleanor and Ernest started farming for a period of time. Eleanor then owned and operated several different businesses with her husband, which included the tavern in Weston and a restaurant in Schuyler. After her husband died she moved to Lincoln and worked as a cook. She worked for over 10 years as a cook at the Pi Phi House at UNL until her retirement. Following retirement she moved to Wahoo to be close to her family.

Eleanor was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and a past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lincoln and St. John’s in Weston. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters. Eleanor was an excellent cook and she loved baking and watching her birds.

She is survived by children, Bernard (Sandra) Masek of Douglas, NE, Deloris (Don) Fiedler of Fremont, Ronald Masek of Panora, IA, Kenneth Masek of Fremont and special friend Shari Reeson; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Masek of David City; sister-in-law, Dorothy Masek of Valparaiso; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Masek; granddaughter, Stephanie Fiedler; and brother, Edward Sekora.
