Elmer A. Semrad, 69 of Wahoo, NE, entered into rest on Monday, March 24, 2014 at his home in Wahoo.  He was born November 18, 1944 in Prague, NE to William and Erma (Novak) Semrad.  He attended school in Weston, NE and graduated from Weston High School in 1963.  On January 27, 1973, Elmer was united in marriage to Barbara Berggren at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo.  Through the years, he worked at Bill Semrad’s Body and Paint and later owned and operated Elmer’s Oil and Repair.  He worked for Capital Business Systems in Lincoln until he retired.  Elmer lived and worked most of his life in Weston until he recently moved to his home in Wahoo.

Elmer was a past member of the Weston Vol. Fire Department and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo.  He loved restoring vintage Chevy’s and he always enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is survived by wife of 41 years, Barbara Semrad; daughters, Michelle (Robbie) Koranda of Wahoo and Sara (Mark) Rosencrantz of Wahoo; grandchildren, Carissa Koranda, Branden Koranda, Riley Koranda, and Jacob Rosencrantz; brothers, William Semrad and Gary (Kathy) Semrad; brother-in-law, Thomas Vanderpool; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve and Joan Berggren and John and Maryann Berggren; family friend, Sam Winchell.

Preceded in death by parents, William and Erma Semrad; parents-in-law, Clarence and Frances Berggren; sister, Shirley Vanderpool; sister-in-law, Linda Semrad; nephew, Thomas Vanderpool, Jr.

Pastor Carl Kramer will be officiating.

Pallbearers are Billy Semrad, Brad Semrad, Joel Berggren, Jeremy Berggren, Chad Koranda, and Mike Simons. 

Honorary pallbearers are Don Palensky, Gary Ruzek, Dan Hraban, Jim Hakel, Ken Meduna, Larry Cejka, and John Wotipka.

    Sorry that you lost a good guy! I remember that Elmer was always ready with a joke and smile back in the day when he had his shop in Weston. Elmer was always willing to share smiles with everyone. I want you all to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. . . Be Strong and keep Elmer’s love for you all in your hearts.
