Eugene “Gene” Styskal, 63 of Ceresco, NE, entered into rest on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his home in Ceresco following an 8 year battle with cancer. He was born July 21, 1951 in Wahoo, NE. Gene attended St. John Grade School and Weston High School. On January 27, 2007, he was united in marriage to Kareen Grevson at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wahoo. For over 24 years, he worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a railcar inspector.

Gene’s passion was hunting with family and friends, his Chevelle and his Indian Motorcycle. He also loved fishing. He cherished family gatherings and the time with his friends.

He is survived by wife, Kareen Styskal of Ceresco; mother, Grace Styskal; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Ruby Schulz of Norfolk, NE; sister, Patty Svara; brothers, Dave (Patti) Styskal and Tom (Roxanne) Styskal; step-sons, Paul C (Randi Burell) Rathjen and Mark T (Claire) Rathjen; many nieces and nephews, Tim Svara, Tom Svara, Kindra Schliffke, Brian Styskal, Christopher Styskal, Tam Svara, Danielle Styskal, and Carrie Moeller; many great nieces and nephews that were all so very special to him; very special friends, Bill and Kathy Roza, Dave Cajka, Craig Swanson, and Dean Show; special fur friends, JuJu, Kayla, Jack, Dozer, Tinkerbell, Monroe, and Kahlua.

He was preceded in death by 1st wife, Jolen (Pontow) Styskal; grandparents, Emory and Rachel Aldrich and Frank and Verna Styskal; special first cousins, Linda Specht and Gordie Specht.

    My heart is aching with the loss of our “other brother’. Eugene was so giving in so many ways to the Cajka family. Our sincerest sympathy to Kareen, Dave and Patti, Tom and Roxanne and families….
