Gerry L. Mathis, 85, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 16, 2017 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. She was born August 3, 1931 in Weston, NE to Ferdinand and Mary (Rezac) Maly. On February 14, 1950, Gerry was married to Frank Bordovsky in Weston, NE and to this union they had seven children. Gerry married Charles “Bud” Mathis on May 19, 1977 and they spent 36 years together until Bud died in 2013. Through the years, Gerry worked for Hellstar, Bishop Neumann High School, Haven House and she ran an in-home daycare. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church, Eagles Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the VFW #4502 Auxiliary.
Gerry enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and Bingo. She loved her family and supporting her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids at sporting events and programs. The grandkids had to take turns camping with Gerry and Bud. Gerry was very proud of her Czech heritage and she loved polka music and dancing.
Gerry volunteered for VFW Bingo, luncheons, and Eagles Bingo. For years she and Bud volunteered for the Wahoo Legion and Wahoo Baseball Association. Gerry and Bud attended all Bishop Neumann and Wahoo High School sporting events for many years.
