Aunt Irene was a wonderful and caring Aunt. Both my father ( Elmer Rasmussen ) and mother ( Jean Marie Sindt ) were from Naponee. Though they moved away.. and lived their life in Southern California , my memories as a young kid growing up .. are FILLED with great recollections of our summer visits to Nebraska and staying at Irene and Pauls’ Homestead/Farm.

Sitting at the table in Irenes kitchen, was like being in another world. Aunt Irene ALWAYS had words of advice and observations for living that were just brilliant and yet simple.

EVERYTHING that came out of her kitchen just seemed to always taste better… and now that I have decades of life to filter the memories that I cherish as a ” big city kid ” visiting the great wide open spaces of Nebraska.. I thank her for the mark she left not just on me, but upon everyone who knew her.

Someday.. in the far future, i know I will see her again, when our family is reunited in heaven. So, although I am sad today for our earthly loss of Irene.. I know without a doubt.. that she is now raised to everlasting life with our Lord. And for that I rejoice.
I do not say goodbye to our beautiful Irene.. but see you soon !
and Thank You .. for the Faith and the Love you lived and based your life upon.
    God Bless

Dear Roger and Jeannine, Please accept my condolences on the death of Roger’s mother. My mother was also 97 when she died. No matter what age, it never seems long enough to have loved ones with you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your friend and former neighbor, Ann Nordin
