John E. Lovell, 83 of Ceresco, NE passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. He was born November 15, 1934 in Deuel County, NE to Charles and Phoebe (Barton) Lovell. John grew up in Giltner, NE and he graduated from Giltner High School in 1952. John served his country in the U.S. Army beginning in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He was united in marriage to Shiela (Ueckert) Lovell on June 7, 1959 in Central City, NE and was blessed with 6 children. The two later divorced but remained friends. John farmed in early years and later worked for Johnson Farm Service in Ceresco grinding and delivering feed, fertilizer and chemicals to the local rural communities.
He was a member of Ceresco United Methodist Church and served as a Ceresco Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department member for 33 years. He enjoyed traveling to his children’s and grandchildren’s outdoor sporting events. Nebraska Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball and Football were important to him and he enjoyed watching and listening to them. He also enjoyed working in his garden, building wooden crafts like wishing wells, bird houses, etc., collecting John Deere tractors and fire trucks, along with various coins and belt buckles. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life.
He is survived by his children, Rodney Lovell of Ceresco, Roger Lovell of Ceresco, Ronda (Jay) Booth of Nebraska City, Rolland (Kristen) Lovell of Valparaiso, Raymond (Gennie) Lovell of Reno, NV, Rochelle (Rick Tiff) Lovell of Ceresco; grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Booth, Jesse (Katie Lockard) Booth, Cortni Lovell, Glaiza (George) Giron, Glyssel Lovell, John Lovell, Raymond Lovell, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Justin Booth, Pryce Lockard, Adley Booth, Gianna and Georgia Giron, Jayah and Lalah Lovell; life partner, Shiela (Ueckert) Lovell of Ceresco, sister Viola Zornes of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Diane Lovell of Waverly, and sister-in-law Venice Fossberg of Nebraska City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Phoebe (Barton) Lovell; brother, Franklin Lovell; brother-in-law, Ted Zornes.
