John J. Jonas, 74, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Saunders Care Center in Wahoo, NE.  He was born September 14, 1943 in Wahoo, NE to Joseph and Lucille (Konecky) Jonas.  John graduated from Wahoo High School in 1962.  On July 15, 1967, he was united in marriage to Marlene Benda at St. Patrick Catholic Church in O’Neill, NE.

John was a lifelong farmer who was always willing to help anyone in need.  He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  John loved collecting and restoring Oliver tractors.

He is survived by wife of 50 years, Marlene Jonas; children, Patrick (Tiffany) Jonas of Charleston, SC and Michelle (Scott) Rushing of Lake St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Katelyn, Olivia and Jonathan Rushing; siblings, Patricia (Rod Youngquist) Jonas, Joann Swartz, Jerald (Terri) Jonas, Richard (Barb) Jonas, Donald (Anne) Jonas, Charles (Glenda) Jonas, Kathleen (Bill) Jones and Karen Jonas; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Lucille Jonas; Wally Swartz and John Mikle.

    John was a great cousin. Our birthdays are on the same day and he used to kid me when we were at St. Wenceslaus because he was a few hours older than me. My love and prayers to John’s family and John has left me with great memories of going to school together!
