Kenneth B. “Kenny” Meyer, 81 of Columbus, NE formerly of Ashland, NE passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at Tabitha Cove House in Lincoln, NE.  He was born February 12, 1937 in Palmer, MA to Bernard & Marjorie (Elliott) Meyer.  Kenny attended grade school and high school in Palmer, MA before entering the U.S. Army on August 5, 1955 he was stationed in Korea and was honorably discharged from his duties on July 19, 1958.  He was united in marriage to Bernice Shandera on March 7, 1960 in Council Bluffs, IA.  From this union three boys were born, Kevin, Mike and Doug.

Kenny spent his early years working as a laborer, helping build Cross Roads Mall in Omaha and Interstate 80.  He retired from Western Electric after 37 years of faithful service. He served as a financial secretary for the union. He enjoyed traveling, restoring old vehicles and homes.  After Bernice’s passing he met Judy Miller and the two were married on December 29, 2012 in Columbus, NE.

He loved playing the guitar and had a small band consisting of friends and neighbors who played in backyards and at Don’s Bar in Memphis, NE.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Miller Meyer of Columbus; sons, Kevin (Sherry) Meyer of Ashland, Mike (Julletta) Meyer of Ashland, Doug (Kristi) Meyer of Eagle; grandchildren, Anthony, Mathew, Kristopher & Kallen Meyer, Jessica (Mitchel) Jewell; great-grandchildren, Alexa Bundy Meyer, Emma Meyer and a great-grandson on the way; sisters, Lois Miller, Carol Opalinski; brothers-in-law, Donald, Arnold & Leonard Shandera; step-children, Al (Krisanna) Miller, Chris (Sarah) Miller, Dan (Pam) Miller; 19 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Meyer; parents, Bernard & Marjorie Meyer; brother, Norman Meyer.
