Leslie E. Benting, 76 of Ceresco, NE passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont, NE.  He was born October 3, 1941 at his home outside of Ceresco to Emerson and Marjorie (Nelson) Benting.  He was a graduate of Ceresco High School.

Leslie was an Army Veteran.  He was married on August 29, 1964 in Fremont to Helen Theye but later divorced in the early nineties.   He worked as a mechanic at Caterpillar and Burlington Northern in Lincoln.  He also worked odd jobs in the Ceresco area.  He was a member of the Camp Creek Threshers in Waverly and enjoyed restoring old tractors and steam engines.

He is survived by his daughters, Lora (Jim) Jelinek of Wahoo, JoHanna Benting of Fremont, Becky Benting of Fremont; grandchildren, Whitley (Jacob) Hettenbaugh of Omaha, Tyson (Kaylee) Jelinek of Dallas, TX; sisters, Bonnie Benting of Lawrenceburg, TN, Joyce (Billy) Smith of Ethridge, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Norman Benting; sister, Berniece Benting.
