Marlene A. Benes, 84, of Valparaiso, NE, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 4, 2017 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, NE.  She was born April 12, 1933 in Brainard, NE to Stanley and Mary (Kouma) Rezac.  On August 29, 1950, Marlene was united in marriage to Leonard Benes at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Touhy, NE.  Marlene and Leonard were longtime business owners in the Valparaiso area.

Marlene was a woman with strong faith that loved caring for her family and friends.  She was a member of Sts. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, Sts. Mary & Joseph Altar Society, PCCW, Catholic Daughters of America, Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulcher, TOPS and she was a CCD teacher.  Marlene enjoyed her flowers and gardening.

She is survived by children: Joan (Doug) Matulka, Carol (Larry) Aldrich, Leona (Ken) Neff, David Benes and special friend Julia Pettit, Gery (Sue) Benes, Luke (Alice) Benes, Grace (Dennis) Jorgensen, Annmarie (David) Engel, Leo (Alyson) Benes, Chris (Janelle) Benes and Karen (Kurt) Bohac; 46 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine (Gerald) Sehnert.

She was preceded in death by husband, Leonard Benes; grandsons: Brent Benes and Dustin Benes; parents, Stanley and Mary Rezac, brother, Valarian (Janet) Rezac.
