In care of the family for future designation

On April 21, 2018, with his family gathered around him in the comfort of home, Phil Poston finished his battle with cancer and entered into the presence of his Savior. Philip Andrew Poston was born August 16, 1954 to Leslie and Joanne (Flynn) Poston in Leesburg, Virginia. He grew up in Purcellville, VA and graduated from Loudoun Valley High School in 1972. He attended James Madison College in Harrisonburg, VA and Grace University in Omaha, Ne where he met his wife, Roxane Larsen of Wahoo, NE. To this union were born four daughters, Sara, Rachel, Hannah, and Chloe. He was a man of many talents including carpentry and he worked in that field until his last year of life.

Phil loved a variety of music from Steven Curtis Chapman to Garth Brooks. He had a strong and beautiful voice which he used throughout his life to honor God and minister to people. There was nothing more important to Phil than his family and that was reflected in how he spent his time. Whether he was doing a project on their homes, fixing their cars, or hanging Christmas lights, Phil loved being with his daughters and their families. He enjoyed being outdoors; lighting fireworks, cutting down a Christmas tree, watching the kids play football, baseball, and softball, and working with his horses. His favorite times of the year were Christmas and fair time. Phil attended the Wahoo Rodeo every year without fail buying tickets for all three nights for all the family who were able to go with him! To his brothers and sisters, Phil was the hub that kept them all connected and informed of each other’s lives.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leslie A. Poston and grandchildren, Elijah Hegwood, Lily, Gabriel, and Liam Zabel.

He is survived by his mother, Joanne Poston of Purcellville, VA, daughters and sons-in-law, Bob and Sara Spicka of Wahoo, Jon and Rachel Hegwood-Truell of Ashland, Jeff and Hannah Peterson of Wahoo, and Willy and Chloe Zabel of Lincoln, three brothers, Larry (Linda) of Valley Cottage, NY, Craig (Linda) of Weatherford, TX, and Paul J. (Joanna) of Taylorstown, VA, two sisters, Leslie Jo (Dave) Connealy of Decatur, NE and Melinda (Tom) Hall of Purcellville, VA, grandchildren, Matt and Emily Bechtel, Matthew (fiancé, Virginia), Bobby, Nathan, Avery, and Landon Spicka, Ethan, Emerick, Eshton, and Eli Hegwood, Kearsten, Gracie, Laine, and Kelly Peterson, Pacey, Mya, and Jordyn Zabel, Josh Dewberry, Hailey and Logan Truell, one great-grandson, Isaiah Bechtel, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him and will miss him dearly.

I was so saddened to learn of Phil’s passing. Phil was such a neat guy always willing to help doing construction, painting or getting ready for a garage sale.
He loved talking about his grandkids and kids of whom he cared about very much.
Phil will be missed here but welcomed in heaven.
    With Symphathy, Karlay Hutchins
