In Care of the Family For Future Designation
Robert “Bob” Leo Gottschalk, 80 of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Saunders Care Center in Wahoo. He was born December 4, 1934 in rural Pocahontas County, IA to Frank and Gladys (Otteson) Gottschalk. Bob graduated from Manson High School in 1952.
Following high school, Bob entered the U.S. Army and served his country until he was honorably discharged. Once he was discharged from the military he began working for the Soil Conservation Service. On June 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Donna Gommels in Fort Dodge, IA. Bob spent two years studying at the University of Iowa. He owned and operated a tile drainage business for many years in Iowa until his family moved to Nebraska. Bob worked for Farm Bureau as an insurance agent for 25 years.
Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #82, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, and the Wahoo Alphas. The Wahoo Alphas were the largest part of Bob’s life outside of his family. He dedicated many hours to people in this group since he got involved in 1973. Bob was a county supervisor for 12 years. He loved the outdoors and he loved his trees. Bob always enjoyed trips to the mountains in Wyoming and watching his grandkids sporting events.
He is survived by sons, Craig (Kristen) Gottschalk of Colon, Kirk (Carrie) Gottschalk of Seward, Eric (Susie) Gottschalk of Wahoo, and Kyle Gottschalk of Wahoo; grandchildren, Emily (Blake) Hoefman, Sarah (fiance Zach Jepson), Anna, Cohl, Kenna, Carissa, and Karnie Gottschalk; great-grandsons, John Henry Hoefman and Harrison Nashua Hoefman; brother, Dale (Joann) Gottschalk.
He was preceded in death by wife, Donna Gottschalk; parents, Frank and Gladys Gottschalk; and brother, Ron Gottschalk.
We are praying for your family! God bless you during this time of loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of your Dad and my Dad working on projects together or having a cup of coffee discussing politics. You all are in my prayers Mary Dailey
Not living in the area, I missed Bob’s services. He was a joy to know. I knew him as “the farm bureau” agent. An all around good guy. He and Donna, were my good friends. My heart goes out to all who mourn him. Love connects hearts forever.
