Roger L. Mandery 69 of Greenwood, NE, entered into rest on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at his home in Greenwood, NE. Roger was born June 23, 1944 in Omaha, NE to Melvin and Emma (Cole) Mandery. He grew-up and attended school in the Falls City, NE area. On April 12, 1963, Roger was married to Patsy Sue Portrey in Falls City, NE. Their family moved to Greenwood, NE in 1971. Roger worked 31 years as a drapery installer for JC Penny’s until his retirement.
He loved to go to car shows and take his family camping. Roger was a big supporter of Ashland-Greenwood High School athletics. He enjoyed going to Nebraska football games and he watched the David Letterman Show every night at 10:35 p.m.
Roger is survived by wife of 50 years, Patsy Mandery; children, Donald (Maria) Mandery of Altus, OK and Rhonda (Kenny) Ford of Ashland; grandchildren, Russell Ford, Kendra Ford, John (Megan) Mandery, and Donalyn (Jeremy) Diaz; great-grandchildren, Luke Mandery and Calvin Davis; brother, Ray (Nancy) Mandery of Fort Walton Beach, FL; sister, Carol Cidlik; brother-in-law, Dennis (Charlott) Portrey of Omaha; sister-in-law, Betty Massey of Falls City, NE.
He was preceded in death by parents Melvin and Emma Mandery and an infant grandchild.
I was so sorry to hear of Rogers death. He was a dear family member and friend. He will be missed greatly by all who loved him.
We will all miss Roger, he had a great sense of humor, he helped me and my friends move several times in Lincoln, He picked out my cars for me, my Monte Carlo, Mustang and Camaro, to name a few, he was the car enthusiest, We went to several Husker games thru the years. He was a good Brother, I have many good memories and the most important his wonderful Wife of 50 years and his two children, their spouses and his grand kids are all in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing this information. When I noticed his age, I thought of me being just a year younger and make me want to share with everyone to live and love life at the present. I will grief with you and wish you the best this new year.
I am so saddened by the passing of Roger. He always welcomed Joe and I with open arms. He was easy to talk to and a lot of fun to be around. He will be forever missed. Our condolences go out to his family. RIP Roger.
