Rosalia “Sis” Gruenes, 78, of Colon, NE, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at her home in Colon, NE. She was born July 8, 1938 in Clyde, MO to Ervin and Bernadine (Bliley) Auffert. Rose attended Jefferson High School in Conception Junction, MO. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Mount Marty College, which led to a lifelong career in nursing with Valmont Industries, Rural School Nursing, Wahoo Medical Clinic, and the Patients Assistance Program. On December 28, 1968, Rose was united in marriage to Al Gruenes at St. Columba Church in Conception Junction, MO.
Rose was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Sodality, Catholic Daughters of America, past member on the Board of Trustees of Saunders Medical Center, Saunders Dairy Women and past member of American Legion #265 Auxiliary.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Al Gruenes; children: Dan (Marie) Gruenes of Leshara, NE and Julie (Rodney) Swanson of Wahoo, NE; grandchildren: Alex (Morgan) Johnson, Seth Johnson, Conner Johnson, Jonathan Swanson and Elizabeth Swanson; siblings: Bill (Marie) Auffert, Jerry (Rita) Auffert, Teresa (Gary) Lammers, Mary Jo (Mickey) Vernon and B.H. (Wanda) Auffert; sisters-in-law: Shirley Auffert, Priscilla Clampit and Fran Wilmes; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Ervin and Bernadine Auffert; siblings: Richard Auffert, Marvin Auffert, Donald Auffert and Lisa Auffert.
