Ross D. McCall, 67 of Ashland, NE, died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln. He was born July 15, 1947 in Pawnee City, NE to Claude and Florence (Miller) McCall. He grew-up on the family farm 7 miles west of Pawnee City, where they raised hogs and beef cows. He was proud to play the tuba in the high school band and enjoyed playing football. Ross and some friends also liked to play a few pranks in high school which earned him a trip to the principal’s office. His mother was the principal at that time. Ross graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1965. He attended Peru State College where he participated in band and music, as well as playing with a Polka Band. In 1967 Ross entered the U.S. Navy, where he served his country during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged in 1971. Following his time in the military, Ross continued his education at the University of Nebraska. On September 4, 1971, he married Carol Miller at the Ashland United Methodist Church. After they were married Ross and Carol started their adventures in traveling the globe.

Ross and Carol farmed from 1972-1979 and then Ross started a career with Laune Sales and Service in Ashland. He worked with Laune Sales and Service for over 25 years as a parts manager. Ross was a member of the Ashland United Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Jaycees for 10 years. He and Carol were active square dancers and members of Ashland Silver Squares for 18 years. In 2006, multiple sclerosis caused him to retire from many activities.

He is survived by wife, Carol McCall; brothers, Jerry (Carolyn) McCall of Lincoln and Wade (Paulette) McCall of Sioux Rapids, IA; sister-in-law, Barb McCall of Harlan, IA; in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eldon McCall.
