Steve D. Sabatka, 69, of Wahoo, NE, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at his home in Wahoo.  He was born January 16, 1948 in Wahoo, NE to Adolph and Virginia (Suchy) Sabatka.  Steve graduated from Weston High School.  On March 18, 1982, Steve was married to Jeannette Sutter in Lincoln, NE.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged on January 10, 1970.

Steve worked for Contech in Wahoo for over 40 years.  After retirement, Steve enjoyed mowing for elderly people in the community and helping with other odd jobs.  Steve was a home body, but he enjoyed traveling with his wife Jeannette.  Steve was content leading a simple life. He enjoyed running into friends and neighbors, always finding time to stop and talk even if just for his usual “few words”.  Steve was the most honest, generous, hardworking gentle kind of guy together with that sincere “little smile”.

He is survived by sister, Kathy Montgomery of Carmichael, CA; brother, Rick (Susan) Sabatka of Wahoo; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Sabatka and parents, Adolph and Virginia Sabatka.

Condolences for Steve D. Sabatka

Steve was a wonderful neighbor and man. He took such good care of my mom when she was fighting cancer. Always willing to do something neighborly and extra for someone. I always knew it was a snow day in high school because Steve was up at 5 am and snow blowing the drive way. A kind giving man with a perfect neighborly wave will be missed. My dad always appreciated him and his watchful eye.

Kathy and family – I’m so sorry to hear about your brother’s passing. I’ve always wandered how you were doing over all these years. It brings back memories of a more simple life when we were young and living on the farm.
