Victoria “Vickie” H. Nelson, 82 of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at her home in Wahoo. She was born December 18, 1932 in Prague, NE to Anton and Rose (Vavak) Kuncl. Vickie graduated from Prague High School. On December 27, 1953, Vickie was united in marriage to Carl Nelson at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague. In her early years, she worked for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph before becoming a full-time homemaker.
Vickie was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church where she cared for the church plants and flowers for many years. She was an avid accordion player and she loved gardening and caring for her flowers. She also loved her aquariums, birds, and raising her chickens. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by husband of 61 years, Carl D. Nelson; children, Carol (Scott) Johnsgard of The Woodlands, TX, Greg (Patti) Nelson of Lincoln, Mike (Phyllis) Nelson of Valparaiso, Mary (Mark) Tvrdy of Lincoln, Rose (Mark) Matulka of Valparaiso, and Jennifer (Terry) Wood of Wahoo; grandchildren, Jodi (Nate) Newcomer, Kerri Nelson, Melissa (Scott) Heim, Matt Nelson, James Garcia, Pat Tvrdy, Ben (Laura) Tvrdy, Rachael Tvrdy, Emily Matulka, Elizabeth (Paul) Hendrickson, Josef (Megan) Matulka, Jonathan Matulka, Rhiley Wood, Trevor Wood, Emma Wood, and Millie Wood; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Christian, Lily, and Ashlyn Newcomer, Leighton and Grayson Heim, Elijah and Lena Tvrdy, Jaden, Jasmine, Jace, and Journey Nelson; sisters-in-law, Darlene Kuncl and Ruby Kuncl.
She was preceded in death by grandsons, Scott Johnsgard Jr. and Cole Nelson; brothers, Ernie, Victor, Cyril, Henry, Tony, Charlie, Joe, and Thomas Kuncl; sisters, Betty Kuncl, Rose Cink, Cecilla Edins, and Emma Kuncl.
