Willard G. “Bill” Woitzel, 83 of Greenwood, NE, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his home near Greenwood. He was born November 21, 1931 in Lincoln, NE to Gustav and Selma (Leuhr)(Rau) Woitzel. Willard graduated from Ashland High School in 1949.
He enlisted in the Air Force and was a Tech Sargent at Amarillo Air Force Base in Amarillo, Texas. He became an instructor at the first all-jet mechanic training center located at the Amarillo Air Force Base. He served for four years. Willard returned home to the family farm and farmed with his brother Robert. In November of 1971, Willard was married to Margo (Schmit) Neben in Ashland.
He was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Murdock and later became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ashland. He served as a board member of the Greenwood Farmers COOP.
Bill’s interests included operating HAM radios and he enjoyed flying as a private small aircraft pilot. Willard had a passion for telling stories over a piece of his homemade pie with family and friends.
He is survived by children, Arno (Betty) Neben of Papillion and Michael (Lynn) Neben of Ashland; grandchildren, Christen, Derek, and Michaela Neben; brother, Robert Woitzel of Greenwood; special friend, Julie Hoffmeier of Omaha; many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by wife, Margo Woitzel; parents; sisters, Helen (Rau) Olesen, Mary Ellen (Woitzel) Bachman, and Greta (Woitzel) Schuelke; brothers, Verner Rau and Herman Rau.
