In care of the family

Jerry E. Zimmerman, 80, of Ashland, NE, entered into rest on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.  He was born on January 5, 1941 in Rulo, NE to Harold and Clara (Fredrick) Zimmerman.  In 1960, Jerry graduated from the Nebraska School for the Deaf in Omaha, NE.

Jerry was a skilled carpenter who was very hardworking and loved to joke with people when the opportunity presented itself.  If Jerry were not working or spending time with his family, he would usually be hunting or fishing.  Hunting and fishing was Jerry’s life.  In the past he loved racecars and he was a great athlete.  Jerry was always thinking of others, even when it came to him being deaf.  He never wanted anyone to be uncomfortable and he let people know that him being deaf was not a disability because it never prevented him from doing anything.

He is survived by children, Pam (David) Guenther of Ventura, CA, Donny (Heather) Zimmerman of Cedar Creek, NE, Francis Zimmerman of Omaha, NE and Terry (Cortney) Zimmerman of Ashland, NE; grandchildren, Maddie and Colin Guenther, Trisha and Dakota Zimmerman, Matt Austin, Timmy Hoffman, Rebecca Price, Jacob and Jesse James Zimmerman, Lane, Drake and Ranger Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Daniel Perry and Madeline Hoffman; many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Clara Zimmerman; sisters, Donna, Waunetta and Carol.
