David L. Styskal, 67, of Wahoo, NE, died on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo, NE. He was born on February 9, 1949, in Wahoo to parents Julius and Grace (Aldrich) Styskal. He was raised and received his education around Weston, NE where he graduated from Weston High School in 1967. On March 14, 1970 he was united in marriage to Patti Divis at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston. David enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1968 where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1972. After the military, Dave worked for American Stores Packing Plant and the Department of Corrections in Lincoln and Omaha until he retired in August of 2014.
David was a member of the VFW Post #4502, American Legion Post #82, and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Dave was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying fishing, hunting, doing yardwork, and spending time with his chocolate lab, Gizmo. Dave was talented at fixing things and was always successful in doing so. Above all David loved and cherished his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Patti Styskal; children, Kindra Schliffke of Cheyenne, WY, and Brian and Danielle Styskal of Wahoo; grandchildren, Kyle Schliffke, Adam Schliffke, Payton Styskal, Jayse Styskal, and Grayson Styskal; brother, Tom and Roxanne Styskal; sister, Patty Svara; son-in-law, Agustus Schliffke; and special friends, Bill and Kathy Roza.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Gene; and sister-in-law, Jolene.
My deepest condolences to the Styskal family. I enjoyed working along side Dave at the Omaha Correctional Center for many years. I was fortunate to know him and was better for it.
Patti, Our hearts go out to you and your family during this difficult loss. Some of my best memories of coming home are the visits and conversations with Dave and you.
