Dean Patrick Mongar, 87, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. He was born April 11, 1937 in Lawton, IA to Patrick and Florence (Abbott) Mongar. Dean graduated from Homer High School in 1955. Dean served his country in the U.S. Air Force until he was honorably discharged on May 16, 1960.
On July 15, 1961, Dean was united in marriage to Eileen Soukup at St. Mary Catholic Church in Spencer, NE. Dean worked for AT&T in Omaha for 33 years until he retired in 1991. He was also a lifelong farmer and livestock producer. Dean enjoyed working outdoors, especially cutting firewood. He enjoyed watching boxing and he liked driving around in his Ranger.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eileen Mongar; children, Denise Koranda, Debra (Frank) Koranda, Terry (Sandi) Mongar, Judy (Ozzy) Osmera, Peggy (Chad) Oborny and Tim (Melanie) Mongar; grandchildren, Dawn Koranda and special friend Danny, Nicole (Greg) Babst, Brittany Koranda, Megan (Jason) Grant, Shawn (Kelly) Koranda, Eric (Kelsey) Koranda, Matt (Kelsey) Koranda, Patricia Koranda, Ashli (Caden) Huenefeld, Adam (Cecily) Mongar, Kassidi (Luke) Sousek, Karli Mongar and fiancée Adam Kottich, Crystal Osmera, Lindsey Osmera and fiancée David Robinson, Claire Osmera, Colby Osmera, Katelin (Colby) VanDerslice, Krystin (Nathan) Cast, Samantha Oborny, Cale Oborny, Joann Oborny, Abigail Mongar, Emma Mongar and Silas Mongar; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Vavra and Juanita (Joe) Schulte; sister-in-law, Carol Mongar; many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Florence Mongar; brothers, Lauren (Shirley and Rita) Mongar and Gary Mongar; sister, Sue (Chuck) Schultz.
