Dione Elizabeth Nelson, 65, of Mead, NE, entered into rest on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, NE. She was born October 8, 1958 in Wahoo, NE to Donald and Darlene (Schroeder) Hanson. Dione graduated from Mead High School in 1976. On October 15, 1977, Dione was married to Robert Nelson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yutan, NE.
Dione was a farm wife, who enjoyed caring for her family. She especially loved spoiling her grandkids and attending their activities. Dione enjoyed concerts, her flowers and working on crafts. She helped with 4-H, Awanas and she was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed spending time at the Gift Niche in Ashland and with her work friends.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Nelson; children, Christopher Nelson, David (Alyssa) Nelson, Shawn (Stevie) Nelson, Katie (Brandon) DeGroff, Grant Nelson and Reid (fiancé, Taylor Testa) Nelson; grandchildren, Andi, Tyson and Finley Nelson, Grady and Rilynn Nelson, Hayden and Brennen Nelson, Carson, Conway and Caroline DeGroff; parents, Donald and Darlene Hanson; siblings, Elaine (Randy) Bergman, Russ (Amber) Hanson and Jim (Shelly) Hanson; many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Leroy and Bertha Nelson.

This is just so shocking! I had just talked to her at the Gift Niche and she was asking how all the family was doing! She seemed so happy and was even having a conversation with my 3 yr old granddaughter ❤️. I will miss these conversations and her presence at the GN. May our Loving Lord wrap all of you in His arms and give you peace, comfort and strength! She will be watching over all of you❤️ Hugs!!

Shocked to hear this. I worked with her years ago at First National Bank in Wahoo. She was a sweet lady. My sympathy to her family.

Remembering how consistently kind and informative Dione was over the decades of our visits to Nebraska from the West Coast and in her emails of recent years.
