Dorothy Marie Meduna, 74, of Wahoo, died suddenly, but peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in her home near Wahoo.  She was born on July 8, 1939 to Frank and Martha (Brabec) Lavicky of Dwight, Nebraska.  Dorothy graduated from Seward High School in 1957 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1961.  Dorothy married Robert J. Meduna on September 23, 1961 at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight, Nebraska.  They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2011 surrounded by family and friends.

Dorothy was a gifted homemaker and seamstress.  She created many quilts for her children and grandchildren which they will treasure always.  Dorothy loved fishing in Canada and travelling with Bob.  She was interested in genealogy and was a member and past president of the Saunders County Historical Society.  Bob and Dorothy were members of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church for more than 50 years.  Over the years, Dorothy was active in the Hints and Helpers Extension Club, and served as a 4-H leader for 12 years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Fred, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Anna and Albert Meduna, and is survived by her husband, Robert, and their four children: Barbara (Mike) Vanek, Marian Meduna, Paula (Dave) Lawrence, and Robert (Tricia) Meduna, Jr.; and grandchildren: Christine and Michael Vanek, Ryan and Michael Meduna-Gee, John Robert Meduna-Haddad, Katelyn, William, and Jenna Lawrence, and Michael, Kjia, and Shea Meduna.  Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law Frank and Jean Lavicky; sister-in-law Helen (Fred) Lavicky and sisters Dee Volkmer and Donna Richtsmeier; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Marilyn & Lloyd Benal; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
