Douglas E. Rix, 97, of Ashland, NE, entered into rest on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Oxbow Living Center in Ashland, NE.  He was born April 11, 1926 in Concord, NH to Frank and Viva (Ferry) Rix.  Doug attended the Wayside Inn Boys School in Massachusetts.  He received a Bachelor Degree from Michigan State University in Restaurant and Hotel Management.

Doug served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII until he was honorably discharged.  In November of 1954, Doug was united in marriage to Barbara Davis at Grace Methodist Church in Dayton, OH.  Doug worked for UNL for 26 years as the Assistant Director of Housing.  He was a member of First Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln, NE and the Adams American Legion.

Doug loved all animals, and he raised ponies.  He enjoyed competing at horseshoe tournaments, playing Poker and Bridge and traveling.

He is survived by wife of 68 years, Barbara Rix; children, Douglas C. Rix and Julie Rix.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Danford Rix, Delwyn Rix and Donald Rix; sister, Frances Rix.
