Garry E. Morris, 78, of Greenwood, NE, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. A private celebration of life service will be held for Garry.

Garry was born on January 9, 1938 in Anselmo, NE to parents Willard and Gertrude (Fisk) Morris. He was raised and received his education around Edgemont, SD and graduated from Edgemont High School in 1956. Garry grew up working as a ranch hand for the Soske’s and Fister’s farms. He then worked in the uranium mine with his father and brother-in-law, Dale White. In 1964 he moved to Phoenix, AZ and learned to operate a Hydro Stereo machine to make concrete storm sewer pipes. In 1965 he moved to Unadilla, NE working in the concrete industry with Nebco to make concrete pipes and was later promoted to the steel plant until his retirement from General Steel in Lincoln. Following his retirement, Garry worked for Tweton Carpentry.

Garry enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and raising Angora goats. Above all Garry cherished the time he spent with his family.

He was survived by his children, Jim and Bonnie Morris of Milford, NE, Bill Morris of Lincoln, Ronnie and Linda Morris of Bullard, TX, and Mike Morris of Mayetta, KS; brothers, Dwaine Morris and Bob Cooper; sister, Sharon Thomson; grandchildren, Logan, Jesse, Justin, Aaron, Chelsea, Mindy, Dusty, Brandon, Austin, Wes, Miranda, and Jack Lee; great-grandchildren; companions daughter, Cherie Nye of Ashland, NE; her children, Nicole and Kellie; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Nancy Jo Yardley; parents; sisters, Donna and Vickie; and longtime companion, Mary Nye.

    I have known gary since i was a kid,he was a good friend of my dads and he was a hell of a guy,he will be missed but i hope him and my dad go fishing in heaven now as they were life long fishin buddies,prayers to the family

    So sorry to hear that Garry is no longer with us down here on earth but his pain and suffering is over now and you all have another angel to watch over you….I know we will sure miss him down here….Let your family and friends help you thro this trying time and just remember when somebody you love becomes a memory that memory becomes a treasure… and Love leaves a memory nobody can steal…Rest in Peace Garry…You deserve it…What a good and awesome man and will miss seeing him out on his porch and waving as I drive or walk by…God bless each of you
