In care of the family
George Arnold Wischmann, 78, of Ashland, NE, entered into rest on Monday, May 20, 2024 at his home in rural Ashland, NE. He was born September 25, 1945 in Omaha, NE to Willy and Alvina (Petersen) Wischmann. George graduated from Ashland High School in 1964. He served his country in the U.S. National Guard until he was honorably discharged. On June 16, 1973, George was united in marriage to Karen Kirkpatrick at American Lutheran Church in Ashland, NE. He worked for Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent/Avaya for 37 years until he retired in 2001. Through the years, he farmed part-time while working and when he retired, he farmed full-time.
George was a hard worker, whether he was farming, scrapping, grading the roads or caring for livestock. He was a long-time member of the FFA. He was always willing to help a neighbor, even if he was busy. When George said, “to make a long story short”, his family knew to take a seat.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen Wischmann; children, Bruce (Jill) Wischmann, Loretta (James) Dimmitt and William (Julie) Wischmann; grandchildren, Michaela (Patrick) Menke, Shelby (Jeff) Stewart, Kyra (Justin) McWilliams, Scott Wischmann, Parker Dimmitt, Chase Dimmitt, Emma Wischmann and Lillian Wischmann; Five great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert Wischmann, Paul Wischmann and Leona Alvarado; many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willy and Alvina Wischmann; brother, Don Wischmann; sister, Helen Swartz.
I was so sorry to hear of George’s passing.
He was such a hard worker and always had a smile on his face and a friend to all. I know he will be very much missed.

I am so sorry for your loss . I’ve always loved the Wischmann family, had a lot of great times growing up out at the farm. I am also so sorry I couldn’t make it to the funeral. Due to the storm I’m taking trees off of houses . I know George would understand. I love you all.
We’re very sorry to hear this. I met George about 1 week before he died. We had a great conversation about farming, western electric etc.. I’m sure he will be missed by many.
An incredible friend and neighbor of my family. His heart was the size of Texas and he was tireless! George, you will be so missed.
Im sorry to hear of this tremendous lost; George was a very determined man who seemed to always accomplish whatever he sat his mind to…i hope he is able to reconnect with my folks in the Great beyond.
