Gloria “Jessie” Olson, 80, of Greenwood, went home to be with her Lord on March 14th, 2016. She was born in Gretna, NE to William and Irene (Grube) Peterson. Gloria grew up on Sunny Side Farm in Gretna, where she and her siblings helped their father farm the land after the passing of their mother at age 37. She inherited her father’s love of the land and was proud of her garden crops and flowers every year, which she shared with those in need. She loved gardening, polka dancing and visiting with friends, however her greatest joys in life were her four daughters and grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her brother Richard (Shirley) Peterson of Gretna, daughters, Jean (Wade) Johnson, Lincoln, Sarah Leatherwood (Don Busch), Waverly, Wendy (Tony) Baker, Greenwood and Lorna (Kevin) Metcalf of Waverly, grandchildren, Stacy (Paul) Badgett, Aurora, Gloria Otto, Lincoln, Kasandra McGuire, Greenwood and Celena Metcalf, Waverly, great grandchildren, Keyton McGuire and Colton Badgett, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and six siblings.
Wendy… Lorna… and family. So very sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. I met her a few times in my short time in Greenwood and she always had a smile on her face. May she rest in peace and know that you have an Angel watching over you now.
Miss Jessie you will be greatly missed….tell mama hi from us…..don’t you two cause too much mischief in heaven
So sorry to hear about your mother’s death. I have a number of good memories of visiting with her and with you her children.

Love you Aunt Jess. You will always be laughing in my memory and in my heart.
Sorry for your loss Wendy, Lorna & the rest of your family, she was a great lady! She will be missed!
Wendy, Cassie, and family: you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you.
Sending thoughts and prayers to all. She was one of a kind.
All of you are in our thoughts and hearts during this time! She was a great lady I had pleasure and was blessed to know
So sorry about your loss…. Jessie was a wonderful woman. My grandmotbers best friend… Loved her dearly
Jessie’s sister Earlynn was married to my brother Jerry when we were 13 and 14 years old. She and I were just a year apart, and had a lot of fun as girls in school, even though we went to different schools, kicking up our heels. We were kindred spirits, and loved to have fun and tried our darndest to stay out of trouble while having one heck of a good time, laughing and just having good, clean fun. I’m sure she is tickling the ribs of old St Peter at the Gate to Heaven.
Sorry about your loss… Jesse was a dear friend. I will always cherish the times we spent together, drinking iced tea and sharing an apple pie or two. I can still hear her yodelling and her laugh when she was done. She is gone but lives on in our memories. God blessed me with a dear friend. Rest in Peace Jesse.
