Harold W. Peterson, 86 of Ashland passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at Lancaster Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, NE. He was born August 8, 1931 in Omaha, NE to Clarence and Florence (Welton) Peterson.

Harold graduated from Ashland High School in 1949. He enjoyed swimming and was a lifeguard at Linoma Beach; he also enjoyed playing the trombone during his youth.  Harold was a Korean War Army veteran stationed in Germany with the 2nd Armored Division, “Hell on Wheels”.  He entered the Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged from his services in 1954.  After his military service Harold moved to his farmstead outside Ashland and remained there the rest of his life. Harold was a simple and quiet man. He was most at peace when on his farm photographing the wild life.

Harold started his working career at Woodcraft Inc, then Cushman’s in Lincoln before retiring after 29 years from the production line at Goodyear Inc. in Lincoln.

Harold enjoyed photography, traveling abroad and within the United States, cheering on the Huskers either in football or volleyball and watching classic TV.  He was a member of American Legion Post #129 and the United Methodist Church in Ashland.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Bev Fulmer of Sun City West, AZ, Bill Maack of Ashland, Neil (Nancy) Maack of Ashland,  Larry (Denise) Maack of Lincoln, Warren Maack of Murdock, Kathy (Curt) White of Denton; great nieces and nephews, Jill (Matt) Coble, Chris (Irma) Fulmer, Trevor Maack, Shannon (Kevin) Garner, Brian (Jamaree) Maack, Jane Robinson, Kelly (Greg) Wiley, Alicia (Jordan) King, Andrea Maack, Wendy (Justin) Pfeifer, Paige (Bret) Blake, Connor Zoz; 19 great-great-nieces and nephews and many cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence Peterson; sister, Dorothy Maack; infant brother, Donald Peterson; brother, Ernest Peterson.
