John D. Flanagan, 83, of Abie, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his home in Abie, NE.  John was born July 5, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Patrick and Loretta (Sullivan) Flanagan.  He grew-up and attended school in Chicago.  John served his country as a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force until he was honorably discharged.  On June 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Colleen Crampton in Carroll, IA.

John worked for IBM as a service tech for 30 years until his retirement.  Following retirement, he spent 10 years working with AC Nelson sales department in Omaha.  He was a member of the American Legion and Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, NE.  John loved collecting and building model airplanes.

He is survived by children: LaGene (Brian) Flowers, Patricia (Mark) Koenig, Sheila (Dan) Snitily, Margaret Krueger, Kathleen (Bob) Burbank, and Shawn (Jeff) Carder; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brother Dan Flanagan; sister Cathy Zeller.

He was preceded in death by wife Colleen Flanagan; son John Flanagan Jr.; and his parents.

    Sorry to here of Johns passing. I seen your dads obit in the Omaha paper. I’m your second cousin. I live in Iowa. Would like some contact with you girls if that’s possible. Did not know your mom my first cousin passed away. You have my sympathy on both your parents.
    please contact me when things settle down for you girls. Again you have my sympathy.
