John H. Clatt. 81 of Ashland, NE passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.   He was born May 24, 1941 in Arbela, MO to Paul and Ruth (Grubb) Clatt.  He graduated from Memphis, MO High School in 1960.  John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Churchill on December 5, 1987 in Council Bluffs, IA.  He was previously married to Nancy (Oliver) Clatt and Janette (England) Clatt.

John worked for Sapp Brothers and was a truck driver for 30 plus years.  He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles and working on car projects with his children.   He especially loved spending time with his family.

John is survived by his wife, Shirley Clatt, children, Kelly (Denise) Clatt of Lisbon, CT, John (Crystal) Clatt of Waverly, NE, Paulla (Ryan) vonRentzell of Greenwood, NE, Jeffery (Wendy) Clatt of Greenwood, NE, Kathy (Charles) Lavato of RAF Lakenheath, UK; step-children, Michael (Heidi) Churchill of Mitchell, SD, Bill (Belinda) England of Lincoln, NE, Judi Ranck of Fresno, CA; 24 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Caroline Dennison of Memphis, MO; step-mother, Shirley Clatt of Memphis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth Clatt; first wife, Nancy Clatt; sister, Margaret Kaldenberg.

    Deepest sympathies to John’s family. I worked with John at Sapp Bros in the 70’s My past 36 years of truck driving are directly related to John’s guidance and encouragement back in those early days. He will be missed.
