Joyce Elaine Sawyer, passed away surrounded by family, on January 29, 2024, at the age of 87 in Papillion, Nebraska. She was born on August 27, 1936, in Osceola, Nebraska. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family meant everything to her.
Joyce is survived by her sons, Christopher Sawyer IV and wife Cheryl, Adam Sawyer and wife Sandi, her daughter, Cindy Sodders and husband Robert, as well as her grandchildren, Christopher Sawyer V and partner Bre’Anna Lara, Danielle Kush and husband Aaron, Ryan Sawyer and fiancé Katie Huckle, Patrick Sawyer, Sam Sodders, Emma Sodders, and her great-grandchildren, Ronin Sawyer, Vaeda Sawyer, and Aariah Kush. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Sawyer III.
Joyce dedicated many years of her life to being a special education teacher at Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools. She had a passion for teaching and positively impacted the lives of countless students.
In her free time, Joyce enjoyed various hobbies such as sewing, cooking, home decorating, and reading the Bible. She was a creative and multi-talented individual. Joyce was warm and gracious and had a special ability to connect with everyone she met.
