Kenneth Carl Keiser, 90 of Ashland, NE, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Millard Good Samaritan Home in Omaha. He was born on September 7, 1924 near Wann, NE to Carl and Martha (Penke) Keiser. Ken attended the Wann country school. On April 10, 1948, he was united in marriage to LaVona Nissen at St. John Lutheran Church in Yutan, NE. In Ken’s early years he helped on the family farm, painted barns with his father, and worked at Union Pacific. For 19 years he worked at Wilson Packing House and then at Jerry’s Tire Shop in Ashland until his retirement.
Ken was a member of American Lutheran Church. He loved listening to polka music and attending dances. He also could play polka music with his accordion. Ken was an avid Husker fan and he enjoyed traveling with his wife, LaVona.
He is survived by wife of 66 years, LaVona Keiser; children, Steve (Cheryl) Keiser of Grimes, IA and Tim Keiser of Omaha; grandchildren, Joseph Keiser of Indianola, IA and Gena Salah of Carlsbad, CA; great-grandchildren, Phillip Wells, Kathryn Fellwock, and Julianna Salah; sister, Dolores (Richard) Kreiner of Davey; brother, Gerry Keiser of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents.
