LaVon L. Root-Felton, 95, of Ashland, NE, entered into rest on Thursday, October 10, 2024 in Omaha, NE.  She was born April 27, 1929 in Memphis, NE to Harvey and Josephine (Morrow) Harger.  On August 25, 1945, LaVon was united in marriage to Floyd Root.  After Floyd passed she was married to Larry Felton.

LaVon worked at Bethesda in Ashland for many years.  In her later years, she worked at Sam’s Club in Lincoln.  LaVon was a member of First Christian Church in Ashland and American Legion Post #129 Auxiliary.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cards, games and country music.

She is survived by children, Mike (Heidi) Root and Chris (Jannette) Root; grandchildren, Corey (Kim) Root, Nicholas (Heather) Root, April (Charlie) Cover, Aaron (Laura) Root, Amber (Nate) Johnson, Anthony (Kim) Root, Michelle Grell, Ray (Judy) Phelps and Ruth Phelps; daughter-in-law, Marg Root; sister-in-law, Jan (Dick) DeLancey; many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Floyd Root and Larry Felton; sons, Richard Root and Brian Root; granddaughter, Stacey Ghumm; parents, Harvey and Josephine Harger; siblings, Don Harger, Glen Harger and Genelle Pike.

    Lavon was one of the first people that welcomed our family to FCC in 2012. She was so kind and smart, (and a beautiful dresser). We will miss her. Prayers for her family through this difficult time.
