In Care of the Family For Future Designation

Lorraine Violet Osmera, 85, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 5, 2017 at South Haven Living Center.

Lorraine enjoyed taking care of the world. Her greatest love was giving her time to her children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends or her many animals and she gladly offered all she had.  She was born November 21, 1931 to Lee and Hazel (Slossen) Glasby near Rochester, MN and moved to Nebraska as a teenager.  She met and was united in marriage to Norman Osmera on November 22, 1949 in David City, NE.

Throughout her amazing life, those lucky enough to spend time with her experienced her special sweetness.  Any and all were free to hold her hand, share a joke, laugh, tell a sad story or smile.  In the early days during the war, she worked in factories to support those making the ultimate sacrifice while balancing her responsibilities as a wife and mother. She was someone who loved to be helpful and earned her living by providing cleaning services for many local residences and businesses for much of her life. Lorraine also worked as a housekeeper for Haven House. An extremely talented baker, Lorraine was full of Czech cooking techniques and enjoyed making the family favorites of kolaches, potato dumplings, brownies, and pies.

She is survived by husband of 68 years Norman Osmera; children: Denny (Tam) Osmera of Omaha, Doug (Kathleen) Osmera of Omaha and Duane “Ozzy” (Judy) Osmera of Wahoo; grandchildren: Allison Osmera, Angela (Rob) Green, Shane (Euem) Osmera, Amanda Osmera, Jeremy Osmera, Crystal Osmera, Lindsey Osmera, Claire Osmera and Colby Osmera; great-grandchildren: Brooklynn, Tristan, Tucker, Leia, Adam, Jessica and Avery Violet; sisters-in-law: Tilly Glasby of Hastings, MN and Grace Ann Svoboda of Columbus; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents Lee and Hazel Glasby; sister Loretta Furnney; brothers: Tony Glasby and Vern Glasby; parents-in-law Theodore and Mary Osmera; brothers-in-law: Louis Svoboda and Howard Osmera; sister-in-law Delores Osmera.

Although we have not seen her for a few years her smile remains vivid in my memory. She was always so loving and caring to all of us. We will all cherish her memory forever. I know my it is a loss for us but I know my daddy (Vernon Glasby)is welcoming her with open arms. She will forever remain in my Heart.

Sending my condolences. I had the pleasure of spending time with her often when I worked at South Haven. She was very sweet and always had a smile on her face! She will be missed as much as she is loved.

I am so glad we were able to have wonderful visits with Lorraine the last few trips back to Nebraska. We shared memories of my mother her cousin and grandparents her aunt and uncle. She was a lovely lady we were blest to know.
