Lyle F. Kitrell, 93 of Sioux City, IA formerly of Papillion, NE passed away, Monday, December 5, 2022 at MercyOne Hospital in Sioux City, IA.  He was born January 8, 1929 in Ashland to William and Ruth (Deck) Kitrell.  He graduated from Ashland High School in 1947.   On December 7, 1952 he married Nancy Olson at the First Congregational Church in Ashland.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force starting in 1951 and retiring as Master Sergeant in 1972.  After his military service Lyle worked at Omaha Postal Service, C.G Smith Company and Continental Can Company.  After Nancy died in 2012, Lyle married Judith Denker.

Lyle was a member of the PTA and Band Parents Association in the Papillion school system where he served as secretary.  He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Papillion where he served on the Chaplain committee, and as a membership chairman. As a young man, Lyle played in the Grand Ole Opry.

Lyle is survived by his children, Jesse (Shelly) Kitrell, Paula Engelage and Jennifer Kitrell; grandchildren, Brianna, Tory, Rachel, Nathan, Alexis and Jacob; brother, Lloyd Kitrell; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Nancy; daughter, Deborah Kitrell; 2nd wife, Judith, brother, Gerald Kitrell; sister, Betty Burr.

    Jesse,Paula and Jennifer we are so very sorry to hear of Lyle’s passing. We thought of him often and remember him fondly at all the family gatherings from long ago.
