Michael L. Gappa, 69 of Ashland, died of cancer on September 22, 2013 at the Hospice House in Omaha.  He was born June 2, 1944 in Omaha, NE to Joseph and Dorathea (Neubarth) Gappa.

Michael was a Vietnam Veteran; a member of the Ashland American Legion Post #129; and enjoyed Nebraska football, baseball, softball, the Cubs, his vehicles, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his love of animals, including his dog Deogee, who he enjoyed taking to the Ashland dog park.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents:  Joseph and Dorathea Gappa; daughter Roxanne Hilliker; great-grandsons:  Gabriel Davis and Exziver Owens.

He is survived by daughters:  Denice (Jim) Parsons, Algonia, IA; Katie Morrison, Council Bluffs, IA; Lauri (Don) Pobanz, Sac City, IA; Dawn (Brady) Brandenburg, Wahoo; Amy Walker, Omaha; and Terri Strack, California.  Sons:  William Heikes, Omaha; and Michael Evans, Hurst, TX.  Sister:  Jeannette (Lloyd) Jackson, Omaha.  Brothers:  Donald Gappa, Plattsmouth; Frank (Carolyn) Gappa, Omaha.  Grandchildren:  Justin (Tiffany) Parsons, Jake (Liana) Parsons, Britni Parsons, Rachel Staver, April Hilliker, Michelle (Jake) Morgan, Michael Morong, Jessica Walker, Jeffrey Walker, Desiree Vespucci, Taylor Strack, Devin Strack, Hanna Strack, Renee (Donovan) Schneider, Ruth Pobanz, Charlie Pobanz, James Pobanz, Timothy Pobanz, Nathan Pobanz, Brandon Evans, Mary Evans, and Jesse Flynn.  He will also be missed by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

    I will miss my Papa,even though it was hard to say good bye, I will see him soon in heaven.
