Michael Martin Ballou, devoted husband, father and friend, passed away, surrounded by loved ones and prayers from near and far on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the age of 62.

A memorial service is to be held at the Amherst Congregational Church in Amherst, NH on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, presided by Pastor Richard G Leavitt.

A graveside memorial service will also be held at Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Nebraska on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. presided by Pastor Randy Hoskins of the First Congregational Church. Michael Ballou, oldest of three children to Lawrence Goodfellow and Jeanine Marie Ballou, was born on August 15, 1954 at Lincoln General Hospital and went home to his Grandparents on the Ballou Family Farm north of Ashland, Nebraska.  Upon graduating from Arvada West High School in Arvada, Colorado he joined the Navy where he was deployed to Okinawa, Japan and later to the Philippines.  In 1985, he married Deborah Cecile Olive of Atlanta, Georgia where they had two children.  In 1999, the family relocated to Amherst, NH to accommodate a work transfer to Boston, Massachusetts.  Michael Ballou was employed with Delta Airlines for 37 years, where he worked as an aircraft inspector.

Michael was a master falconer through the North American Falconry Association, an active member of NEGenWeb for Saunders County, Nebraska and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and a wide variety of inventive projects.  He was a very honorable, multi-talented, and giving person. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Ballou, daughter, Cecilia M Ballou, son, Michael “Mark” Ballou, brother, Douglas Goodfellow, sister, Kelley Goodfellow, his Uncle, Earl Ballou; and several cousins.  He was greatly loved and will be missed by his friends and family.
