Myrel Ann (Poulsen) Garvey, 86, of Lincoln, NE, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at her home in Lincoln. She was born October 27, 1929 in Sioux City, IA to Paul and Campsa (Joslin) Pokett. In 1947, Myrel graduated from Laurel High School in Laurel, NE.
On October 13, 1952, she was married to James Poulsen and together they had five children. James died in 1978. She was married to Phil Garvey in 1983 until he died in 1997. Myrel committed to her partner, Leonard Wortman in a ceremony in February of 2001. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
She is survived by committed partner Leonard Wortman of Lincoln; children: Rebecca (David) Bartek of York, Paula (Tom) Voboril of Wahoo, Michael (Rhonda) Poulsen of Lincoln, Peggy (Terry) Vitamvas of Fremont, Kelly Poulsen of Port Charlotte, FL; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; sister Helen Ahlman of Derby, KS.
She was preceded in death by husbands: James Poulsen and Phil Garvey; sisters Marcella Friend and Pauline Wilde; brothers: James Pokett and Duane Pokett; grandson Joseph Poulsen.
