Pat Torpy, 74 of Ashland, NE passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at Oxbow Living Center in Ashland.  She was born July 10, 1950 in Fairbury, NE to Jim and Mildred Brouse of Mahaska, KS.

Pat grew up enjoying the life of a carefree farm girl with a variety of pets including cats, dogs, a raccoon and a pigeon.  In her teen years she experienced a life changing disaster, she was struck with type-one diabetes.  Misdiagnosed by a country doctor, she fell into a coma for ten days before returning to an entirely different life.  This illness would plague her for the rest of her life.  A second life-changing occurrence was when as a young adult she met an Irishman named Bill Torpy.  On December 1, 1973 the two were married and the couple spent a few carefree years in Omaha before their two children were born, James Ryan and Calleen Marie.  In late summer of 1980, the family moved to Ashland.  Pat experienced all the joys and tribulations of raising two babies into adulthood on Clay St. in Ashland, all this time dealing with the many effects of type-one diabetes.  She will be remembered by many as a quiet lady who only was vocal when irritated!

Pat is survived by her husband Bill Torpy; children, Ryan (Joanna) Torpy, Calleen (Steve) Gray; six grandchildren; siblings, Kathy Hutchinson, Jim Brouse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Arlene Trainor.
