Richard E. Kubalek, 93, of Weston, NE, entered into rest on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at his home in rural Weston, NE.  He was born July 11, 1929 in Weston, NE to Fred and Lillie (Ruzicka) Kubalek.

After graduating from Wahoo High, he proudly served in the US Army during the Korean era.  He was stationed in Germany where he fell in love with and married Pauline Kneissl in 1954.  Richard and Pauline, along with her daughter, Karen, settled in and farmed the family homestead in Weston, NE.

Richard was a carpenter where his talents were used to build many homes, including his own, in the Weston/Wahoo area.  He had many hobbies and had a passion for farm life.

He was taught to speak fluent Czech as a child from his grandparents.  He enjoyed listening and singing to polka music and was able to make several trips to the Czech Republic.  He was very proud of his Czech heritage.

Along with cherished time spent with family, he valued working closely with friends and neighbors, in addition to traveling.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lilllie Kubalek; wife, Pauline of 61 years; son-in-law, Terry; brother-in-law, Dennis Eschilman.

He is survived by daughter, Karen; sister, Marilyn Eschilman; granddaughters, Elizabeth, Erin, Joanna (Ryan) and Julia (John); nine great grandchildren, Jamie, Jaxon, Chloe, Gavin, Joey, Olivia, Mason, Noah and Charlie.  He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends.

So sorry for your loss. Hard to loose someone you love. My dad Fred Maly(Skipper) worked with Richard years ago.
