Robert C. Kowalke, 96, died August 8, 2020, at the Oxbow Living Center in Ashland, NE, after a short illness.  Bob was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Walter R. and Mary (Gampp) Kowalke. He graduated from Leeds High School and went on to serve in WWII in the U.S.Army.

Bob married Betty Joyce Van Vliet at Calvary Lutheran Church in 1948. He was a loyal employee of Batcheller’s Farm Store in Sioux City for many years.  He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

Bob enjoyed a variety of hobbies including gardening, woodworking, and stained glass. He greatly enjoyed giving to others many of his projects.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; parents Walter and Mary; brother-in-law Richard Feiok; nephew Jeff Feiok; and great-niece Heather Feiok. He is survived by daughter Luanne (Daniel) Head of Lincoln NE; granddaughter Lauren and great granddaughters Anna and Addison of Omaha, NE; grandson Michael (Rachel) of Lincoln; sister Mary Ellen Feiok of Platte, SD; niece Pearl (Jeff) Feiok of Platte; and great nephew Heath (Jamie, children Owen, Jack, Penny and Emily) of Platte.

    Hi my name is Madhvi I lived in sioux city IA on hickory ave. and had become friends with Bob, he had made a beautiful stepping stone for me which I still have with his initial on the back. We had shared beautiful friendship and I am so sad I wasnt able to talk with him before his passing. I moved away in 2013. My deepest condolences. I was honored to have known him and to call him a friend! xo
